We are now a couple of weeks into the new year.

Our marketing plans should be in place and calendars set to make this year even bigger than the last!

Now it’s time to talk about email marketing and trends this coming year.

Why? Experts predict the number of active email users worldwide to increase from 4 billion back in 2020, to 4.6 billion by next year.

These numbers continue to prove that email is a workhorse in the digital world.

However, due to cyberthreats, marketers have some challenges and changes they need to overcome. Email providers like Google, are reporting that they will require bulk senders to authenticate their emails, allow for easy unsubscriptions and stay under a reported spam threshold.

While this may seem like a roadblock and scare marketers away, these guidelines will help keep your email information secure, and should alleviate any concerns your subscribers may have.

Another hot topic in the digital world is artificial intelligence, or AI.

Email marketers have been introduced to AI this past year and will now have more confidence using it in 2024.

AI can be used to enhance and personalize the consumer’s experience. Using AI writing assistants, you’ll be able to generate subject lines, content and can even use AI template builders to step up your game.

Also in 2024, consumers will be able to choose what type of messaging they want to receive.

Along with messaging, they should be able to choose what avenue they want to receive the content from.

What does this mean for you? It’s a great time to start email segmentation and testing to see what your audience wants.

While creating email campaigns, experts say 2024 will be a year of simplicity. Users want to cut out the digital noise.

This means to focus on text-based emails, or messaging that is simple without any additional flair. So, keeping your fonts and images to a minimum is a good idea.

Simply put, get your message out and guide your customer directly to your CTA.

And while email may be a top choice in 2024, don’t forget about text messaging.

Research has shown that texts and emails should go hand in hand.

What does that mean? Make sure to create a text to go out with your email so consumers can get access to the information quickly if they want it.

2024 is here. Let’s do what we can as marketers to give our customers what they want.

Think outside of the box to keep those messages inside their inbox. But don’t overthink it.  Let the testing and experimenting help guide your decision-making while on the path to marketing success.
